Peterborough Cup for a Cause

November 30, 2025 | Smash Courts, Peterborough, ON

Info on the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Foundation

Our Foundation provides support for youth who are transitioning from the care of Kawartha-Haliburton Children's Aid Society to living on their own. We want to be sure these youth feel supported and do not slip into homelessness as they take this big step towards independence. It can often be a struggle as youth transition from the care of Kawartha-Haliburton Children's Aid Society to living on their own We support the youth with the basics in terms of food and household supplies, so they don't have to go without and can divert dollars budgeted for these items to rent or utilities.

• Gift cards - We provide a quarterly allotment of gift cards to assist with groceries, household items and personal hygiene products to youth aged 16+ who are transitioning to living on their own. Each quarter we support approximately 100 youth with this initiative. By helping to cover the costs of these necessary items we are sure everyone can access food and personal care items they need and the youth are able to divert money to other expenses such as rent and or utilities.

• Food cupboard supplies - There is an onsite food cupboard at the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society office available to youth who are unable to afford food due to their other living expenses. By providing these supplies we know everyone has the basic food they need and the youth can divert money budgeted towards groceries to other household expenses such as rent.
